Review on ๐ŸŒฒ Explore the Great Outdoors with Giant Timber: The Perfect Outdoor Activity for Adults by Michael Syph

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Slightly disappointed, **updated** (see below)

GREAT game. A friend at camp made a set so I figured I could do it. The problem was, no matter how hard I searched, I couldn't find a single lumber shop that had good quality 2x3s. All had many knots and most were deformed. Then I found this set at Revain and thought the price of this set was worth it given the cost of wood, sandpaper and most importantly the hours I would have to spend sanding the blocks. There are 2 little things. what I noticed is. Firstly, the top of the page says they are made from "real hardwood" but the description says they are "polished blocks of pine". They are actually pine. never mind Still good quality. The second thing I noticed (and it was a bit disturbing), although the surface of the blocks seemed smooth, in fact the factory could have invested a little, I noticed that on most of the blocks the "very thin" milling or traces of sanding, which I had, small grooves are found after laying, as if intertwined, which sometimes makes it difficult to remove blocks. So I bought a pack of 220 grit sandpaper and finished the job. Other than that, I love this game and will be bringing it to our family reunion next month. One more thing as other reviews have said the bag is good quality but the set is quite heavy so I found a roll around bag suit with a handle that fits all the blocks. That should make things easier. ***UPDATE*** I downgraded my rating from 4 to 3 stars for the following reasons. After spending several days polishing the blocks, I initially concluded that the manufacturer had not spent much time on it. Not a single block was what I would call smooth and secondly, the description says they are "polished" pine. There was NOTHING I would describe as polished on any of the blocks. So after sanding them down I applied a few coats of linseed oil to not only protect them but also to make them glide easier. but just in case I say that the wood is of good quality. There are small dents, but they are easily sanded, there are almost no knots. The few I found were very small with no ridges.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly crumpled
