A fun product. You can make a beautiful bubble wall. But not so much with a water filter. It will make a gurgling sound as bubbles are sucked into the intake. Almost like when the water level is low. Also, it creates a nice dramatic look for the tank. Some places in the pipe will have more bubbles than others. This is more evident when less air is entering the diffuser. I have a control valve between my pump and the diffuser that allows me to control the amount of air. If the value is set too high, there is almost a hurricane in the aquarium. Too much water flow for the fish.
