A nice high-quality hot water bottle with an easy-to-launder knit cover …

I’m a fan of old-fashioned hot water bottles. A while back I was searching for one in a pharmacy without luck. This is a PVC hot water bottle and the only one I had on hand was an ancient one, so ancient the rubber was cracking. I put my tea kettle on and added hot water to this hot water bottle. There are no instructions that came with this bottle, but just don’t put this in the microwave. If you’re looking for a hot water bottle, chances are you know how to use one. They should only be filled approximately 2/3 full. The mouth of this hot water bottle is nice a wide one, which made it easy to fill. Once I put in the water, I gently squeezed the bottle to let out the excess air and put on the top. Just a cautionary note here is that you should NOT use boiling water. It’s obviously a safety issue. This is a nice, large hot water bottle and I’m not detecting any off odors. There are some nice ridges, which keep in the heat. One thing I really love about this one, more so than another one I have, is the cover. It is form fitting, but the elasticized neck band makes it easy to launder. The easiest way to put the acrylic cable knit cover back on is to fold the hot water bottle in half. This is a nice, high quality hot water bottle that’s great for those cold winter nights. In the summer months, it can be filled with icy cold water.

Pros
  • The hot water bottle can be used as an alternative to medication for pain relief
Cons
  • The waist cover may be too tight or too loose for some users
