Purchased to mount an 8lb light therapy box

I needed a low profile desk mount to hold an 8lb light therapy box (Northern Light Technologies Boxelite) on my wife's desk. I wanted the light to come from slightly above her head at a slight tilt. This stand is serving this need and is steadier than the miniature tripod I had been using for the interim. The construction is sturdy and almost all metal. The only plastic part of the clamp is the disk on the end of the bolt and seems adequate for the task. The clamp is also low profile enough to slip through the predrilled cable access hole in her desktop. The ballhead is much better than I expected for this price. Unlike most cheapie ballheads that have a single tightening bolt, this ballhead adds a panning adjustment. Not strictly necessary but greatly helps in adjusting the light as loosening the main swivel ball is awkward given the weight of the light box. I have the box tilted at about 20 degrees and the ballhead is holding well. I don't think it could handle a larger tilt given the weight and orientation of the lightbox (it's vertically/portait mode oriented, so that weight is really cantilevered over the ballhead).
