I used to have FHI irons and I've always loved them. I took a chance and tried this model after my daughter took my FHI Heat Platform Tourmaline Ceramic Pro Styler to bath in the toilet. So I was looking for a new flat iron to tame those crazy curls. I was thinking about buying the same one I already had, but then I stumbled upon the sleek pro and was intrigued. I read the reviews and description and the smooth platform is the best for my hair type. I have thick, curly hair and found it gave me a silkier straight look than my previous straightener. The BOY was disappointed. The iron itself feels cheap, almost like a toy iron, or dare I say it feels worse and feels worse than $10 Walmart irons. At its highest temperature, it doesn't feel as hot as it should, not even close. it didn't flatten or straighten my hair. I had to go through the same section of hair 8 times before it looked halfway decent. Remember I'm a hairdresser so I know what I'm doing. It also seems "loose", I don't really know how to explain it, but it's like the top of the iron's flat plate goes one way and the bottom goes the other. Opposite. They do not meet during installation. I'm really disappointed and I was so excited to get this product and write a good review but I'm VERY disappointed. I really hope it was just a faulty iron and they aren't all like that. But I wouldn't recommend it. I will definitely return this.
