Great Camera: Camera and Photo

I bought this camera to see if it would work in a studio as a fixed camera for a small TV station. I figured, worst case scenario, I'd have a good webcam. Also, I'm not a big fan of Sony and their "brands". This is a great camera. The video quality is much better than I expected. Not as good as my 3-chip pro cameras, but better than many pro cameras. The sound is what you would expect from an internal microphone. Only suitable for home cinema. The recorded video looks very good. I use the video output from the A/V connection to power the switcher. Works great, but there's a slight lag in the processing the camera does internally, causing the single audio stream to be slightly out of sync. 720p is better than 1080p. However, this can be remedied with a slight audio delay when it gets annoying. If you're using it in this type of setup, you'll obviously need to use an AC power source for power. It bypasses the battery and prevents the camera from turning off automatically. Many people complain about the reaction in low light. I use it indoors and it works great in a dimly lit room. I'm using 720p with the setting "landscape". It gives the room a cool color that I like. There are 5 settings to choose from, including Auto, and these are the only available settings that have anything to do with lighting or shutter controls. If you want to use it at night, buy another camera for a much higher price. The only complaint I have is that the built in screen turns off when using the A/V jack. I need to use a studio monitor to position the camera. Also, as a Sony, you should use the Memory Stick Pro Duo and not a standard SD card. May I recommend this camera? I have ordered 4 more.
