Under Armor 3.0 Base is a quality product for winter use. Yes they are more expensive than other brands but they work as expected and last a long time. I bought the XL to wear over padded cycling shorts for winter rides. They are good for 40 degree rides with good warmth and moisture wicking. I couldn't find a base 4.0 version that was rated to last up to 30 years. Of course, you can put another layer on top, but this may not be necessary. They fit relatively snug (6ft - 225lbs) but just what I expected. The material is relatively dense and elastic. The length is good, doesn't ride up, holds well at the ankle. I highly recommend.
