Review on Shure MV51 Silver Digital Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone: Superior Sound Quality and Performance by Joe Bailey

Great sound and build quality, get your cable

I've been looking for a mic to use while streaming and Shure is already a name I trust so I thought I'd would give this mic a shot. I use this mic about 2 feet away from me and my audience can hear me clearly. I use it on my desk with a stand, but you can mount it on a special mount by removing the rubber screw-in leg on the leg on the back. It comes with an adapter to mount it on a smaller bar, but I found it incredibly difficult to remove once screwed in. I thought about mounting it on a tripod, but this adapter was so difficult to remove that I just decided to use it on my desk for now. Using the touch buttons makes things a lot easier as you don't have to interact with the software if you don't want to. I only have one issue and that is an unusually short 3 foot cable. This can be ok if you're using this with a mobile device that's close to the microphone, or a laptop that's also very close. It couldn't get from the back of my table tower to where it rests on my desk without being almost fully cocked. Several cables are supplied, but they are all unnecessarily short. Contrary to what I read in another review, the cable is standard. I'm using a Blackberry USB-A to Micro-USB cable that's over 10 years old and works great. If you don't have such a cable, I highly recommend buying a longer cable if you intend to use it at a normal distance. Besides, I have no complaints. The build quality is solid, heavy metal, and over a few months of use it has worked wonders.
