Be careful when buying this camera! I tested two 70D cameras with EF 50mm f/1.8 II and EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lenses, and in both cases there was a defect in AF performance when aiming through the viewfinder (AV mode, f/1.8, one shot, spot). The number of sensors (AF on the center point or 19-point automatic) and the distance to the object (from 2 to 250m) did not affect the final result in any way: in ALL cases it was WORSE than in LIVE VIEW mode with the same settings. As it turned out, the unstable operation of autofocus through the viewfinder was written back in 2022. 2 years have passed and nothing has changed: we are still offered a "soap dish" at an expensive price. On a request to Canon, I received a standard response: "We would like to inform you that no focus-related defect has been officially detected on EOS 70D cameras. Please reset the camera settings and check its operation in different shooting modes. Unfortunately, it is not possible to remotely diagnose and identify the cause of the problem, we recommend that you contact one of our authorized service centers. The exact cause of the problem will be determined by a specialist in an authorized service center after diagnosis." The key word in the answer is "officially". Thus, we are once again offered to beat the thresholds of service centers, which, in principle, have a different functionality: they cannot and should not replace the technical control of the manufacturer and, figuratively speaking, substitute crutches for a lame leg. Canon quality is lame and it looks like nothing is going to change anytime soon.
