I visited a pottery shop in Ohio prior to purchasing this jug and am glad I did as he set the stage. It is truly handmade and I believe that no two are alike. If you watch their videos you will understand why. Mine is almost flat on the bottom, almost flat on top and almost round. The finish is perfect and it is made from the finest pottery clay in the country. Much better than risking an old pot on eBay. My old slightly cracked no name 6 qt. the pot weighs 5 pounds. That's 8 1/2 liters. the pot weighs 12 pounds. and I suppose it could go on forever if some fool doesn't drop it. You don't want to buy a top until you get yours and measure what you need. I found a Fagor 8 1/2 glass lid at Revain that matches mine. Sauerkraut is coming!
