The liquid dries out somehow
I have two of these, one from here, the other from a local shop. The first year they were perfect! Then in the second year (this year) they both lost an inch or two of fluid. They are absolutely tight and do not leak. I've read that the liquid is probably part water and part glycerin (to make it thicker than water) and the water actually evaporates through the plastic on the snow globe. I wish I knew a trick to refilling them every year and making sure there isn't an actual leak.
