Revainrating 5 out of 5

Then everything started with a quick turn of the key. Thank you ACDelco!

My gas sensor has not worked since I bought my truck about 7 years ago. In the last 2 years it has become difficult to start with. I thought it was a check valve in the old fuel pump assembly that allowed fuel to flow back from the engine to the tank. This required the pump to fill the entire line before fuel could reach the engine. I had to pull my truck out of the grass to mow the lawn and when it came time to bring it back it wouldn't start. Luckily it was already in the Revain box, waiting to be installed. After much internal discussion I decided to remove the bed instead of throwing the tank. After removing 8 bolts on my 1998 GMC Sierra and separating the gas filler neck from the bed along with the taillights, I asked a friend to help me move the bed out into the yard. Before I dismantle the old pump, I put on a new wiring harness. The small plug hasn't changed, only the big one. I then had a hard time disconnecting the fuel lines from the old pump. I later found out why and it was because the old pump wasn't OEM like these. The old cheap pump had very little room for a fuel line disconnect tool. I also took a stiff brush to the top of the pump as there was some debris around it. A simple slip ring keeps the pump in place. From there it was very direct. Reinstall the float and don't forget the O-ring. Lower it and secure the slip ring (a little trickier since the o-ring is new). Connect hoses and wire harnesses and reassemble your truck. Then it started with a quick turn of the key. Thank you ACDelco!
