After a long creative slump caused by the coronavirus I decided to try watercolor pencils to try something new and hopefully inspire new creative endeavors. I would say I bought these with low expectations and found that these pens worked well, applying rich, easy to blend colors (some people like to pre-mix on a separate sheet of paper before painting, I love to close on the page mix) and was a lot more fun than I expected. Due to the fact that it is a water soluble ink and not a pigmented colour, this has helped avoid a lot of the haze that can occur when mixing colours, and also allowed for many more lifting methods. The handles are a little light so I don't know how long they will last; but I paid $34.99 for the kit so again I wasn't expecting miracles. A small notebook with practical drawings and a set of videos will be a nice addition for those who are unfamiliar with watercolor or watercolor pencils. I myself just dove into a random project instead. My main caveat to add, and the reason these guys are getting 4 stars instead of 5, is that unfortunately the packaging is terrible. The thin plastic case arrived in bubble wrap, the flap is torn and won't close, and one corner is dented, probably from shipping. Luckily the pens were fine, but I had to buy a separate storage box because the one they came in just wasn't usable. Although some may not find this to be a problem; To me, product packaging is the first impression of what's inside, so good packaging goes a long way in demonstrating a company's pride in its product.
