Review on 🎧 Monolith M1060 Over Ear Planar Magnetic Headphones - Black/Wood: 106mm Driver, Open Back Design, Studio Comfort Ear Pads by Vanessa White

Here's the thing: Stock these headphones are very uncomfortable (for me) for long listens and the sound is close but not quite fantastic. into an awesome sound, but you'll have to do a little work to get them there. BUT - back to comfort. In stock, these headphones pressed so hard into my head that the (fairly hard) pads crushed my skull so much that I had to take them off after an hour of listening because the area around my ears was so tired. But if you've ever looked into these headphones, you know this mod takes them to the next level. Here's a list of the mods I've made to make them my all-time favorite pair of headphones. the ones i have (of which there are many): - fuzzor mod (google it) to get rid of the 5k call. Very cheap and easy mod that is 100% worth it. Replacement of the ear pads. I chose the Brainwavz micro suede pads and they are sooooo comfortable. They didn't solve the headphone fatigue problem for me, but they did make it a lot more tolerable. The pads I received are not angled and some might argue they should be for optimal sound, but I didn't seem affected. I bought a HiFiMan He560 replacement headband from a random site called Adorama for $10. and then painted matte black and then replaced the stock headband with this one. This greatly improves the look of the headphones (thus getting rid of that odd boxy look) and makes them a thousand times more comfortable. That death grip on the sides of my head is gone and now I can listen to them for 6 hours straight without getting tired. I highly recommend this if you have the same ailments as me. I finally have a longer cable. There's nothing wrong with a standard cable other than it's very short and I find it annoying, I prefer a cable length of around 3 meters. Yes, and the connector is at the right angle, which doesn't make sense, but it's not really a problem. Overall, I love these headphones with all my heart, but it took me a lot of work to get them to this level. They sound fantastic they look super high quality and I love the wood and despite all the mods required they are at least very easy to mod. Wait - one last thing - the earpads are glued on and that's a nuisance, but once your best replacement is there it hardly matters. EDIT: I also ended up taking out the foam and replacing it with a very thin layer of spandex right on top of the grill and that improved the sound quite a bit as well.
