Description of 🎧 Monolith M1060 Over Ear Planar Magnetic Headphones - Black/Wood: 106mm Driver, Open Back Design, Studio Comfort Ear Pads

Planar Drivers: Not your typical headphone driver! A planar magnetic driver is a flat membrane that is surrounded by magnets. Open Back Design: Instead of an "inside your head" isolated experience that traditional closed-back headphones provide, open-back headphones provide a holographic listening experience. Comfort: The Monolith M1060 has been engineered to be comfortable for extended listening sessions. Large, comfy earpads are designed to keep you comfortable as you listen. Quality at a Fair Price: Monoprice's rugged design and rigid quality control standards deliver high quality products at fair prices. Impedance: 50 ohms.

You can't get anything better unless you pay a ton more!

Okay, they're heavy and a little odd shaped, but the earcups are very comfortable and it's easy to tell how they sit on your head. Detachable cable. The sound quality is surreal. My Sennheiser 870s have more bass, but they tire. They deliver such rich bass that I prefer these Sennheiser headphones. The highs are clear but roll a bit, which doesn't bother me. The soundstage is exceptional (although a good set of speakers will offer a completely different soundstage in terms of instrument…

Wood, metal, leather, things that make life pleasant.

Wow. that rock and style. Love them you need some power to drive them because they are flat magnets and not the traditional drivers inside but. Don't take my word for it though I think everything both Monoprice and Monolith says is a steal, your mileage may vary but I bet they will do it for you. Get a good amp, they won't reach their potential. from an iPod or phone, but from an amplifier, the size and shape of the earcups make them incredibly easy to listen to and even more comfortable. I'm…

These sound better than any headphones I've tried

Z reviews and DMC3 made me make this purchase. They were top notch in terms of sound and unfortunately so was build quality. Everything they said in their reviews hit the mark. If you can get rid of the uncomfortable feeling that they could fall apart at any moment, these headphones sound a lot better than any headphones I've ever tried on. They are also a bit heavy. but i can still use them all day long. I'm a gamer and I don't know if they are the 'best' for gaming, but the soundstage is…

I'll update this as I continue - Updated -

So far they seem sturdy and looking good. . Very flat/cloudy when connected directly to a laptop or tablet. For now, the soundstage and picture are decent, and the bass is good and punchy for an open back. Less than 990 dts but so far it's the only thing they're doing "better". I will be taking them to work in a few days and using my schiite mod1 with small dot 2 with audioquest interconnects. Comfort - Fairly comfortable, although the pressure from the top band is a bit noticeable. I'm just…

I can't recommend them enough!

I love these headphones. These are the most comfortable headphones I've ever used. I got them as an entry point into the high quality audio market and they are worth every fraction of the price and could probably cost a bit more but they are worth it. It's so easy to drive with these headphones and the impedance is 50 ohms so you don't even need a DAC and amp, but I recommend going with at least a cheaper one like the Schiit Audio Fulla or if you don't mind to rake in a slightly more Magni Modi

I really love and hate these headphones

Here's the thing: Stock these headphones are very uncomfortable (for me) for long listens and the sound is close but not quite fantastic. into an awesome sound, but you'll have to do a little work to get them there. BUT - back to comfort. In stock, these headphones pressed so hard into my head that the (fairly hard) pads crushed my skull so much that I had to take them off after an hour of listening because the area around my ears was so tired. But if you've ever looked into these headphones…

I bought these late January 2018, this is an updated version with 2.5mm sockets instead of MMCX. I tried several planar headphones, Audeze LCD3, Opportunity PM-3, AudioQuest Nighthawk, HifiMan HE560 and none of them stuck with me. I don't think I've ever found a set that had the sound I liked at a price commensurate with its quality and that I wanted to spend time with rather than my Sennheiser HD800S headphones. When I came across the 1060 for under $300 I couldn't pass up the opportunity to…

A fair price of $300 for the in-ear headphones

I bought these based on the seemingly endless praise they receive on headphone forums and critic reviews. Apparently, Monoprice has been constantly improving them based on customer feedback (build quality in particular was cited as an issue when it first launched - they're working to improve it, and my example is flawless). I think that in itself deserves a special mention. A company that really listens to its customers deserves support. The headphones themselves are often compared to $700+…
