Trouble Code P0420 Fixed

Just know that I do not believe in adding anything to the gas tank. But while looking for a good catalytic converter cleaner (time for smog check), I ran across Lucus Oil. My 2003 Camry blew a head gasket four years ago. After making the repair, the dreaded P0420 code turned on the check engine light 2 years later. I drove the car all this time without addressing the issue. Recently, I removed the catalytic converter, soaked it in vinegar for a couple of days, then put it back on. The code came back. I used Cataclean and the code came back again. I bought Lucus Oil gas treatment two weeks ago but was hesitant to use it. As a last resort, I filled the gas tank and added 5oz of Lucus Oil. The light came on again. But wait! I drove my Camry 120 miles. The next day, another 50 miles. Suddenly the engine began almost singing to me and the engine light went out. I have no codes now. I filled the tank again to see how much gas I used. It came to 28.25 MPG. The engine is a 2.4L. I increased the mileage by 2 miles a gallon after adding Lucas Oil. When I bought the car new, 2003, the mileage was 28 miles per gallon, the same. Because the car has almost 200,000 miles on it, the gas mileage began to dwindle. This is truly amazing. So, I put Lucus oil in my 2004 Corolla, as well. For that car, I noticed I didn't have to put as much pressure on the gas pedal when accelerating from a dead stop. It took me time to figure out what felt so different. My wife noticed the difference when she drove it, too (I thought it was just me). In summary, I now believe that additives are necessary. Lucus Oil did the trick for me. What a life saver. I was getting ready to spend money on a catalytic converter. Drive your car around for awhile with Lucus oil mixed with your gas and see what I mean. It truly does work well. I am also noticing a nice, clean exhaust smell.

Pros
  • Increases fuel efficiency
Cons
  • May not work with certain types of gasoline
