It was very easy to put together but you will need a screwdriver or drill to do it. There is a hex wrench in the box, but most of the assembly is done with a Phillips head screwdriver. All parts are packed and labeled, as are all large parts. Nuts and bolts only go one way, but there's no way to know if you've got it right until you've tried every bolt. It was annoying. All pieces were cut to size and included extra nuts and bolts and a method of attaching the shelves to the wall. They're great for small spaces where the corner design frees up space, but the top two shelves are fairly shallow so are probably best for small items rather than books.
