Walking in sub-zero temperatures is no problem

I needed something to complete my winter gear. I have coats, gloves, and thermals made for the uncomfortable Midwest cold, but when my face was exposed to sub-zero temperatures, my nose started to freeze. I was trying to find a good heavy duty ski mask that would do the job and keep my nose from frostbite. Some had mixed reviews so I looked for the heaviest option and settled on this one. I was very, very happy with this balaclava! It definitely keeps me warm when walking in sub-zero temperatures, very light. In fact, it's more than warm enough for that; Sometimes I drop the frontend because I don't need it all the time. I think this would be a good option for those who have to stand in the cold all day without being able to walk like guards. I would recommend this to anyone living in the Chicago area or north of us. It is very warm and easily wears under the hood of a regular jacket to provide maximum warmth. I can roll it up and keep it in my jacket pocket when not in use. You will need a good sized bag for this though. It's quite thick when the windchill is rolled up, I'm sure I don't have to look for anything extra. Now I mostly wear glasses. However, I knew that a ski mask wouldn't work, especially in this cold weather. At these temperatures, even the smallest amount of air condenses on your glasses. The air is too dry and my glasses are too cold. So I wasn't surprised that my glasses didn't work with them. This isn't a problem for me, which is good as I don't know of a reliable way to fix this. Maybe ski goggles? I've never worn ski goggles, but I've seen how they work. I highly recommend this balaclava! And I almost forgot the most important thing about this wonderful ski mask: it makes me look like a ninja.

Pros
  • Protective gear
Cons
  • I don't really dislike it, it's ok
