I'm not trying to belittle this product but it really isn't for gerbils. Just received this yesterday and assembled it, put it in a cage. These products didn't last an hour on my gerbils. They were immediately torn apart. They're not wooden like I thought, so they were very easy to destroy. And they did. They destroyed every detail. I was quite dismayed at how quickly they did it. It definitely wasn't worth it for her. May work for other small animals but be careful. Now I just have to figure out how to clean up all those shredded bits that are scattered everywhere.
