OK - This training collar works great with even the thickest down puppies. We have a Huskador that has about 3 inches or more of fur at this time of year which makes it difficult for most collars to work properly. We had the previous version of PatPet and while it worked great, this new version is more flexible and fits the collar better overall. The remote is also slightly larger, which is very comfortable to hold, and the buttons and controls are well placed and can be used just by feeling the buttons. It's so comfortable that our dog doesn't mind wearing it for hours at a time, although it's recommended to take it off when not in use. There are three ways to alert your dog and get their attention: (1) Sound - loud enough for the dog, (2) Vibration - strong enough for even large dogs, (3) Shock - which has an intensity range of 1-16 - There are about four of us staying which is enough to get our 70lb dog to cum when the deer makes him run through the woods. In general, any dog can be safely trained with a great collar, patience, and proper training. We started with daily walks for about 2 months, first with just noise, then with vibrations and finally with jolts. We now feel so much more confident on trips and outings that most of the time we just use sounds to get his attention. If you're in doubt as to whether this will work, just know that we've tried everything on this 70 lb rescue dog who was having serious problems and it's working! Now everyone is safe and happier!
