This small hand held level is a great addition to my marine biology field equipment list. My students use them with vertical poles to measure the elevation of locations in the intertidal zone relative to the height of the tide. It is well suited for this purpose. Admittedly, the device is light, plasticky and even feels cheap in the hand. But it works if you don't have to be too specific. I found an accuracy of +/- 1-2 cm at 10 meters or so. Even if you're on a budget like most of us, the price is definitely right! The visor itself includes a simple horizontal bubble level mechanism and a mirror that reflects the bubble in the line of sight. The bubble is fairly large compared to the field of view and you'll have to guess where the centerline is, but as I said, that's enough for a lot of tasks. This device is great for example when you want to make sure the fence line is straight or similar work. However, this would not be sufficient for surveying work or observations at long distances. A laser level would be much better for this type of work. This device does a good job of what I needed to do and at an affordable price. 4 solid stars.
