Review on Samsung 860 EVO 500GB SSD MZ-N6E500BW by Petar Mihalev ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Quality is top notch, happy with everything.

I purchased an SSD 860 EVO M.2 500GB to replace an SSD 850 EVO M.2 250GB in an older laptop (the 850 EVO is still in fantastic shape after 5 years, but I need more storage space). There was no room for debate over which manufacturer to go with. I thought it would be best to test it out on a desktop machine first before putting it in a laptop. CONFIGURATION: Samsung SSD 860 EVO M.2 500GB, Firmware RVT24B6Q, Windows 10 Professional (version 19041), NTFS (4 KB), and a win driver. Intel i5-10400F; ASRock Z490 Phantom Gaming 4; RAM 32.0 GB. The results of the SPEED test are illustrated below. Real write speed for huge files is 490 MB per second when reading and 500 MB per second when writing (up to 24 gigabytes), but drops to 290 MB per second after 24 gigabytes. In other words, the write speed declines from 500 MB/s to 300 MB/s if a particular threshold is reached when continuous recording of big data arrays is being performed. The M.2 port is not in close proximity to any potential sources of heat, and there are no SSD cooling devices present. Ambient temperature 21°C. 28 degrees Celsius during idle, rising to 44 degrees after writing 32 gigabytes. TOTAL: The SSD lived up to (both the advertising brochures provided by the company as well as the reviews provided by third parties) our highest expectations. I got it for $4,430 with a discount, and I'm extremely satisfied with how things turned out:) A helpful review of the 2.5" SSD 860 EVO can be found on the Russian website 3Dnews.
