Doesn't line up. on step stools

It does not sit well on my toilet, it slides down and now my son does not try again, he is afraid that he will fall, the step is inclined downwards, not very strong . It seems too small for our toilet and I haven't seen any issues for other people as to the size that fits their toilet so I didn't think I had to measure the toilet to make sure the seat worked.
