Review on 📶 Enhance Wi-Fi Coverage and Connectivity with Amped ALLY-0091K Wireless Ally Plus: A Whole Home Smart Wi-Fi System by John Ford

HIGH EXPECTATIONS - POOR PERFORMANCE. I was looking for a replacement for the already excellent Asus RT-AC68U router. I wanted to offer more range. This solution failed to balance coverage and performance. When you're in range, ie in the same room or location as the base station, the performance is GREAT. However, due to the mesh, performance is lower than a single Asus RT-AC68U. Why? Because the expander reduces the available bandwidth. It so happened to me that there is a "wired” connection throughout the house. My current solution is to extend the WAN connectivity of the routers from the ground floor to the basement where the DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem is located. This provides sufficient coverage for all 3 floors. I was hoping to do the same but better. That was not the case with this investment. However, if you are tech savvy and have a "wired" home, you can use this system with your existing WiFi router and use other SSIDs. That was the setup for my test. I simply connected the Amped system to the RT68U's LAN port and misplaced the extension cable. The performance was pretty good. But as soon as I swapped out and made Amped the main unit (in the basement) and used an extension cord on the first floor, the performance got worse. Technically I could use the system as I am currently using RT which stands for WAN Link Extension. But the only place I could see a performance boost would be on the first floor. In my opinion not acceptable. Clean clean - for a one-story or two-story house - everything is probably fine. But for a three story house with no wired connection for you to strategically position the BASE unit, it's not worth the money and "small" gain in performance. Next time I will try Ubiquity Solution.
