Review on AMI PARTS 990-53 Humidifier Water Solenoid Valve Assembly 24V - Compatible with GeneralAire Humidifiers 1042, 1042L, 1042LH, 1137 by Mike Travers

I bought this to replace a broken original on my GeneralAire 1042-L. The device arrived quickly and looked good at first glance. Everything was there, a perfect fit at first glance, assembly was easy, and based on recommendations from other reviews I used teflon tape on all threads and there were no leaks. Unfortunately, as someone else noted, the flow rate on this replacement is significantly higher than the actual General Aire solenoid. It ended up blocking the pillow, overflow pump and flooding my basement overnight (twice). I was able to get around this by almost completely turning off the supply valve as a flow restrictor, but be careful and double check your setup afterwards(!). And besides, it's noisy when this device is on. . It makes a humming noise all the time while the water is flowing, loud enough to be heard on other floors. I've been waiting to check it out in case there's some sort of time lapse, but no, it's still buzzing. The original never did. So if you really don't find yourself in a bind, I suggest you consider another product.
