I bought this to distribute a DirecTV Mini Genie from my wiring closet to TVs in three different locations. It was relatively easy to set up and initially I could take a remote to any TV and seamlessly control the Genie using SIIG's IR functionality. However, the Mini Genies turn off after a few hours of inactivity, and after that happened I was unable to turn on the Genie from any of the TVs. I pressed the "Reset" button on the SIIG receivers (which I believe resets communication with the transmitter) but was unable to turn on the Genie. To get everything working again, I had to go to the wiring closet and unplug the SIIG transmitter. So it is obvious that the Genie's separation caused some kind of connection problem either between the Genie and the sender or between the sender and the receivers. So I returned this SIIG for a refund and bought a similar product from gofanco. The Gofanco device works perfectly even after several days of inactivity. An e-TekDepot seller contacted me to investigate the issue and we communicated via email and phone. They said the SIIG division is virtually identical to the Gafanco inside and out, and that's no reason why it shouldn't function the same way. They concluded that the link failure was due to a faulty IR emitter circuit and suggested replacing both the emitter and receiver.
