Review on πŸ—„οΈ Aurora FC-103BL Modern Soho Design Mobile File Cabinet – Fully Assembled, 3-Drawer Metal, Lock Key Included, White/Aqua Blue by Erica Clay

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A cool looking device with a great combination of looks, features, utility and price.

After storing important documents in a combination of a small box and several flexible folders for far too long, I realized it was time to invest in a real filing cabinet. I didn't want to spend too much, but I saw how poorly built some of the "cheap" ones were and didn't want to buy junk. Also, I wanted to place the cabinet in a prominent position, so I wanted something more eye-catching than the usual black OfficeDepot. And I wanted a cabinet that rolls on wheels so I can move it around easily. After reading many reviews about Revain here, I came across this Aurora model and am very satisfied. The unit was fully assembled as advertised, except for installing the frame in the bottom drawer and installing the organizer tray on top. The metal is thin and had a small almost imperceptible dent at the top near the corner, but I don't care - it looks good. As for the rest of the fit and finish, it's not bad - I haven't noticed any sharp edges or gaps, and the wheels and drawers roll very smoothly. Aside from a small dent, the top is solid and doesn't flex under light pressure, allowing you to put anything on it (though nothing heavy given the overall lightness of the device's construction). The color is exactly as advertised by Revain - a lovely aqua or sea green. I particularly like the assistive third wheel that keeps the unit from tipping over when the bottom drawer is pulled out - I haven't seen this feature on many pricier units - they just lock so you can't open the top and bottom. Drawers, as before, to avoid tipping over (this device also has this function). Note: I saw someone here asking how to open drawers due to the lack of visible handles. There is a small gap between the fronts of the drawers and the cabinet. You just run your fingers along the sides and pull. It's so intuitive I didn't think about it. Small thing but good design. Unlike some other "cool looking" filing cabinets I've found at Revain, the size of the bottom drawer allows for standard files to fit across the front of the unit rather than lengthways, which I didn't want. - It's a little easier to scan folders if they're facing you when you open the drawer. It gobbled up all my existing dangling files, leaving enough space. The middle drawer has a box of spare files or hangers and I have another box behind the organizer in the top drawer. Thus, all materials for the "home office" are in one place. I particularly like the location of the lock and key. As mentioned, this is a lightweight cabinet so the only security is that a casual visitor won't be able to pull out the drawers, but that's all I was looking for. I love that small keys come with cool little foldable covers so you can use the bulk when working with the key but when the key is just "hanging" on the lock the outside turns and hangs for a lower profile straight down. . Nice little gesture. I leave the key in when I don't expect people to stay where I keep the closet. Four stars. The Aurora Modern File Cabinet is a functional, attractive small filing cabinet for the home or small office that works well and costs no more than the rest.
