The skimmer is fun! Beginning foaming within the first 12 hours. I had to touch it up a bit and adjust the water level in the swamp, but it filled up in less than a week. I have to empty the drip tray about twice a week because it pulls so much unpleasant stuff out of the water that it just gets disgusting in the cup. It makes me sick to think that all that crap used to stay in the water column with my fish and coral. Works absolutely silently with or without a silencer. If you are looking for a skimmer that performs as well as a Bubble Magus or Reef Octopus at a fraction of the price then this is the skimmer for you. Five stars for functionality. I have two design issues that could be improved. 1 cup is difficult to remove. Be careful and do this slowly or you could spill the skimmat back into the swamp. The 2 muffler connects to the lid of the collection cup, which means that if you want to clean the lid, you'll have to detach the muffler first. Despite these issues, I like this skimmer for the way it removes unwanted sludge from the tank. Oh yes, the assembly instructions leave a lot to be desired, but I did find decent videos on YouTube.
