when I was shopping for these, there was one "used - like new" available, at such a good discount I couldn't turn it down. when an item is sold like this, sometimes means "opened/unwrapped but not actually used". but in my case it appeared somebody had ran it through the dishwasher! the grain was raised and it was rough all over. It looked pretty bad, it did not look "like new" and I'm honestly surprised it passed inspection and was put back on the shelves. however, these are solid wood. so it didn't take too long to sand it all down and after a few coats of oil and wax, it looks like a brand new board. honestly, because of the discount, it was WORTH IT. If you take good care of these, they will last you a lifetime.
