This is the cheapest design possible but they work and are great value for money. I don't use them often, but it's nice to have them on hand for projects when needed. I had no problem installing Kester 44 soldering tips using a Hakko FX888D soldering station set to 400 degrees Celsius (750 degrees Fahrenheit). It lasted 1 to 1.5 seconds. There was no discoloration or deformation of the plastic after soldering. The center conductor connection remained taut. The outer ring conductor is very loose until the connector is fully installed. The center conductor really holds the connector in place. Fully seated contact resistance is less than 100mΩ for center and ring connections. But the connection becomes unreliable if the connector is not fully inserted. I would not use them in a project for a client. And I wouldn't recommend them for field use or a cable that will go through many connection cycles. For my personal project purposes they are good enough.
