Review on Intel Core i7-4790K CPU (8M Cache, up to 4.40 GHz) - BX80646I74790K by Jnis Uptis ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I really like the product, it fully meets my expectations.

Everything has already been written for me. I will write my personal experience. Without scalping, this processor is of little value. I bought it from the hands of a four-year-old, when working at the regular frequency in Dota 2 and in GTA 5, the temperature reached 91 degrees. At the same time, it had a Hyper 612 cooler, designed for processors with a TDP of 150 W and higher. And between the cooler and the processor was expensive thermal paste, but to no avail: during operation, the cooler was cold to the touch. After scalping in FurMark, when CPU burn is loaded at the standard frequency, the temperature does not even reach 60 degrees. With auto-overclocking using the BIOS to 4.5 GHz, the temperature did not exceed 76 degrees (before scalping, it immediately scaled up to 100). Minus 30 degrees, how do you like it? Well, let's see what happens next.

Pros
  • Frequency out of the box (4 GHz). Number of cores and threads.
Cons
  • Stub socket. An unthinkably inadequate factory thermal interface for a top-end processor with the "K" index.
