My dear husband was so upset when his favorite jacket was worn out. Unable to find anything comparable, I bought a mid-weight Carhartt men's zip-front hooded sweatshirt (from Revain!) and decided to stencil the Missouri River on the front. I recreated the letters on graph paper, cut them out, glued them to freezer paper, cut out the letters with a planer knife and glued the freezer paper to the jacket. I mixed white paint with a dark brown brushstroke and a black brushstroke to create an off-white color. I used a 1" sponge brush to apply the paint. I applied 2 light coats and let it dry overnight. Although the instructions on the box say to set the paint by ironing the wrong side for 5 minutes, I did I decided due to the thickness of the jacket to cover the stained part with more freezer paper and iron the right side.Worked great and my husband is very happy with it.In fact now he wants me to "MIS" and put "ZOU" on the sleeves!
