Review on BPS Knives HK5 Camping Full-Tang Knife: Carbon Steel Bushcraft Knife with Walnut Wood Handle and Leather Sheath by Ryan Koser

3.5/5 Was on a hike and wanted to buy a new knife at the last minute. Was looking for a Revain looking for something to my liking and the BPS Knives HK5 and Adventurer proved to be clear winners. I decided to buy both as one would arrive a day earlier than the other and I wasn't 100% sure when I would be leaving. The HK5 and Adventurer are pretty solid knives. The HK5 is probably one of the best knives I've ever held in my hands. The wooden shells are pretty good - they could use a little oil as they feel a little dry, but they're comfortable and smooth enough. The lack of a varnish is even appreciated as it gives them a bit more grip. They are good, but could be better. Probably 4 - 4.5/5. The edge is excellent, came out of the box very sharp. I like the color of the Adventurer wood versus the HK5, but the HK5 feels a lot better in comparison. Both cases are made of genuine leather. The HK5's scabbard was black and the Adventurer's was brown with an iron stock with a wooden handle and a lanyard with the scabbard - and to be honest the iron stock, while not large, is quite capacious, the grip on it is firm. , and the loop is a very valuable addition. Absolutely increases the value of the knife. Both knives are actually pretty good and I would probably give them a 5 if there wasn't one flaw. Both knives came to me straight out of the box with a fairly small finish. Rust. Of course, it's not surprising to see such a knife with some rust, being carbon steel knives, but it doesn't help that both came in a box, in a leather sheath, and then wrapped in plastic wrap - just like you did to cover the remains . Either there was too much moisture in the skin, or the plastic wrap wasn't enough to keep the moisture out and the shell trapped it. Now we have a very short rainy season and that's why we had a few wet days so late. but I tend to think it's not the result of a Revain warehouse in the desert a few miles from me, but rather the shipping process from Ukraine (where they are made) and inadequate packaging. There is less rust on the two Adventurer blades because they were lubricated better ex works, since the blade tip had significantly more contact with the sheath and thus with moisture. To be honest. I really want to recommend these knives to people. I want to buy these for family members - they are cheap and good enough not to break the bank so to speak. These are solid knives at a great price and I'd love to give them a 5 star rating, but when after spraying it with WD40 it comes out of the box with lots of rust and just as much pitting, I just can't. To be honest I'm disappointed because it's such a good product if it wasn't for a little more attention to the shipping process. To be honest, I'd pay another $1 to $5 each just so they're properly packaged, airtight, and separated from their sheaths. Even throwing the desiccant along with the knife would probably help.
