Love this duvet. It has that washed out, slightly faded look that I was looking for. Upon receipt I washed and dried it - gentle cycles for each, with my tried and true Tide Free & Gentle, no problems with unraveling stitches. (I didn't use liquid fabric softener or sheets - I use balls of wool) The comforter didn't feel rough or chafing. While it might not be super soft, it had the matte softness of a real piece of silk. (Just my opinion everyone has a different sense of touch) I love duvets as I get a bit more weight than just a thin sheet but not the extra weight/warmth you get with a full duvet as I already have a (warm ) got here in hawaii! I don't find the white zipper a problem as it's hidden by the edge and I just made sure the edge is on the other side of the bed, barely visible. Very happy with my purchase!
