When installing in a Ford vehicle with speaker terminals on the front of the speaker, there is a small ferrule here to prevent running excess cable. I made a small cut out in the speaker adapter I bought for my car big enough for the wires to run from the back to the front. I didn't use any special tools, just some small vices (you can use pliers). I simply fixed the desired side, pressed against the edge and moved the vise back and forth. After the edge was removed I made another cut in the same area that was at a 90 degree angle to the first cut and did the same. There is nothing more to say, the product works perfectly as intended.
