I have African Grey, Wrigley and bought a 24" light that runs the full length of the cage. While I won't spend a lot of time comparing this flashlight to my old flashlight with a wobbly stand and an expensive bulb that lasted about a year, I would like more information before I buy it. I have extensively critiqued this M&M lamp and I hope it will be useful to those considering buying it. This light is a very well designed bird light! The light itself is sleek and streamlined right out of the box. A sturdy metal mesh housing protects the LED and is designed so that Wrigley cannot reach it when mounted on top of the cage as advertised. That's saying something, because he's smart and not easily confused. The light is LED - it's very energy efficient, you don't have to worry about heat, it lasts almost forever and LED lights are eco-friendly (bonus!). I didn't realize how dim my old light was until I turned on this light - it bathes the entire length of his cage in beautiful bright light! No blunt spots! The metal coating of the power cord coming out of the light itself is strong enough. It's also very flexible and surprisingly long. Flexible enough to be tied to the cage bars/frame and kept away from my bird; and long enough to be carried around the frame of a very large cage and kept out of sight. The flat metal zippers are very strong to keep the cord where I place it. Wrigley will have no problem with this line! (Warning: No matter how heavy the metal coating, I'm super careful about any wire coating with my bird on it. It can bite off a truck bumper.) M&M suggests fitting a timer (sold separately) for "constant lighting intervals,"" and I'm glad I took up this offer. The timer lets you turn the light on and off literally hands-free. The installation was solid and I should know because I'm a dumbass when it comes to things like this. Me had a question or two and Mark from M&M customer service couldn't have been more helpful. He told me the company now offers larger and better fitting light mounts. He sent me two of these and they fit perfectly! With the new mounts I have about Took 20 minutes to install the light and route the wire, if not for the help of Wrigley it would have taken me 15 minutes max!
