PLEASE see my video and photo of the real candle (left) and product (right). Okay, I'm an electrical engineer and I really appreciate sophisticated technology. These candles are *almost* perfect: They don't *look* like wax, they're REAL wax. They flicker like candles and can easily be programmed to turn on for a set number of hours (2, 4, 6 or 8 hours). If you buy multiple sets (I bought 3 sets of 6), all remotes can control all candles (good design feature). The "wick" (which is actually a wire) actually looks like a real wick. very cool! They are also quite bright, although not as bright as a real candle (see my video and image comparison with a real candle). My only complaints: - There should be multiple flicker modes, for example a mode that has a little more "off" time. Hey, it's a small computer, so why not use multiple flashing modes? - They're just too long. - They use AAA batteries. As an EE I know the bigger the battery the longer it lasts so why not make the candle a little thicker and use an AA battery? - Single LED: It occurred to me that if they used two LEDs side by side they could make the flickering much more realistic as the 'flame' could appear to be moving. I'm happy to spend a little more for a more realistic flame. I haven't tested the battery life yet, but if they last 2 months at 6 hours a day I'd be happy. I really don't understand the negative reviews about getting a cracked or "dead" product. If the item is broken, please return it, but don't leave negative feedback! All three of my orders were in perfect condition - not a single broken item. Oh, and I still haven't been paid for this review and I live in Pennsylvania, USA. Overall I am very satisfied and now have 18 candles that burn for 6 hours each night. I'll edit this review later to report on the battery life.
