These braces (I use two) support my ankles which have practically collapsed due to bone on bone arthritis. Although my athletic days are long gone, these braces at least help ease my discomfort and allow me to walk. The phantom ankle wrap is almost as good as wrapping my ankle without the skin irritation and discomfort associated with taping. The key to this brace is that it doesn't have straps crossing the ankle like many other braces that put undue pressure on the ankle bones. Although these suspenders are a lot less bulky than others, they still take up some space in your shoes, so if you go up a size or half a size, go big!
