Review on 🖨️ HP PageWide Pro 577dw: Efficient Wireless & Duplex Color Business Printer (D3Q21A) by Eddie Pollard

Updated July 2019 I no longer recommend HP. We have several of these printers. Forced HP firmware updates that now prevent the use of 3rd party inks, forcing you to use very expensive HP inks at 4 times the price. Without permission they have removed the function of the product and do not allow us to revert to older firmware. In addition, their collection of usage data can hardly be prevented, they persistently ask for permission at every opportunity until some user clicks "Yes". You are the owner of this printer. HP doesn't own you. Don't buy from HP. In addition, you CAN disable automatic firmware updates and HP Web Services (cloud printing). If you're security conscious, you'll want them disabled. However, ANY user who runs the HP Utility will inadvertently and unintentionally turn it back on, EVEN IF THE SETTINGS ARE PASSWORD PROTECTED. Somehow, with HP's nasty trick, they pretty quickly force your printer to 1) get automatic updates and 2) turn on web services (cloud) no matter how many times you disable those settings. Although we have several printers in the office, this is our printer. We print a lot of single or multi page jobs, this printer delivers a page faster than you can get to the printer every time. When time is money, you save a lot of money! Good but not very practical for photos. Anywhere you have a solid block of ink (large logo, illustrations, etc.) the page will be damp, especially if you're using cheap paper. We have found that Hammermill laser paper performs well, is virtually impervious to moisture and is inexpensive to purchase, while the image is further enhanced by a bright and very smooth paper surface. I haven't tried Xerox Color-Lock yet. It's reliable, doesn't stick often, and works pretty much as you'd expect. The practical thing is that you can print directly from your smartphone. The scanner is OK, the sheets fed in come out slightly twisted. HP's constant demands and shenanigans forcing you to deny privacy and use their online services is extremely annoying. If you log out, another user will have to log in when the ink is changed or for other reasons. At least he stopped demanding after registration. I also have a 477dw elsewhere at home, the 477dw seems to make more noise especially the engine hum when printing. Maybe it's just a difference in the environment. Most of the noise this printer makes is paper handling, it's actually very quiet. For the highest quality presentation I use another printer that produces a glossy wax print, but for everything else this is a no-brainer for the speed and convenience. If you're on a fence, take action. Get this instead of the 477dw, the speed is worth it.
