Review on ๐Ÿ’จ Enhanced Performance Vornado 723 Full-Sized Air Circulator Fan for Optimal Room Ventilation by Lalaine Fernandez

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Oh, dude. so close to amazing

Yes, it vents just like my previous winner: squirrel cage fans and with a better effect cone. Yes! Yes, it's a bit noisy at top speed, but for the air it puts out, that's to be expected. Fur. What is killing me is that I spent a lot of money here to go super energy efficient. At low RPM it looks plausible: 2-5 watts. 50 watts at maximum speed. But that's a wrong number: the power factor is bad, very bad. 0.3 at low speeds 0.5 at high speeds. This means that the actual power consumption is 50-70% higher. So a reading of 3W equates to a "realโ€ power draw of closer to 10W, and more importantly, a max power draw of 50W equates to closer to 100W when drawing power. This is almost identical to an AC fan. Remind me why I bought this? And the real bummer is that it has nothing to do with the fan itself - which is great! Very difficult. This is a cheap power supply - very cheap. Vornado was fired from the OEM or not paid enough to get good ones. Shame on someone! .. and please also provide a longer power cord. Two feet for the AC side of the power supply is ridiculous (and cheap - further proof that whoever makes this charger screwed up). 3 feet on the other hand isn't great either, especially if you want to put a fan on a table. Full Disclosure: I bought three of these before checking the wattage and will leave them hoping I can find the best OEM PSU to go with them. Too bad, an ingeniously designed fan is spoiled by a cheap range of accessories.

Pros
  • Top marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
