The C301 OBD2 scanner is one of the cheapest tools of its kind I've seen. I'm really amazed at how good this product is for its meager price. Sure, the plastic is a bit cheap and the buttons are a bit bland, but it does the job well. Unlike a physical UI, a visual UI goes beyond user-friendliness in the higher-quality realm — it's well-organized and presented on a bright, sharp, and easy-to-read screen. Using this scanner to determine the cause of the lit MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light aka Check Engine Light) was incredibly easy and extremely helpful in making an ultimately simple repair yourself. I was even able to clear the error code, although I believe it would eventually clear itself once the problem found was fixed. Still, I wanted to test the functionality and it worked great - no more MILs. No one should ever pay professional mechanics only to find that all they need is a new $10 gas cap. Even if you end up needing a professional repair, you can have peace of mind knowing the problem beforehand. For the asking price I honestly can't recommend it to anyone who has a car, with or without a gearbox.
