Review on SUNMORY Shelves Standing Dimmable Bookshelf by Nate Jenkins

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good but may differ from pictures/other answers

We bought 2 units and although they were basically the same there were some notable differences in the units which I will mention below. Pros: Like a drawer for my little things, big enough to store my small eye drop bottle on the side - Easy to assemble - Pretty good looking and well organized - Like a charging station. I can hide the plugs from my eyes with my e-book - the lampshade looks good despite the velcro. I was able to line up the seam fairly easily even though it was installed around two different parts of the frame. - Height: we use them as bedside tables. the second shelf is high enough to see my watch but low enough that the dim light doesn't bother me while sleeping. (As opposed to the height where my watch would be looking straight at my face while sleeping) - I assume it looks like solid wood. Cons - I bought a 3 pin plug but one of the devices had 2 or 2 pin plugs instead. One of the exit blocks was covered with velvet, the other was not. The orientation in which the USB ports were plugged in was also different for each unit. Give him time/space for the exhaust. It was noticeable but was ignored after about 6 hours. - The drawer is plain wood, no coasters, so it creaks loudly when you open it - the cord is definitely not 71 inches or so when it hits the floor. More like 3-4 feet after it hits the ground. You can buy an extension if you need extra length, but I was expecting/hoping for longer.- Detail is good but pre-drilling was sloppy/missing in some cases . , the pre-drilled holes didn't line up with the spacing between the shelves, so we had to pre-drill a hole on one of our units ourselves. One of our devices was also missing a few holes for screwing in the charging block. , although we had screws for this - we only found out because we had two blocks and the other had all the pre-drilled holes. - The post holes were not drilled in the exact center of each piece, so some posts seemed more like rectangles than squares and didn't line up evenly with the shelves every time. Not sure if it's for or against - the light switch is weird - it toggles on/off, toggles on/off to toggle between different brightness levels. That means you don't have to worry about going to super-bright if you wanted to turn it off, but it also means you don't know what level of brightness you're getting every time you turn it on. The brightest option isn't as bright as I thought it would be. If I were to use this for a living room I might be disappointed, but for our use it's actually ok.

Pros
  • Sturdy finish
Cons
  • There are cons
