Old metal cornices are already bent and their structural integrity compromised. They were purchased from a local major brand department store. These heavy duty curtain rod holders (KOLAKO) are the perfect fit at a rock-bottom price. They have double arms for better support. Our curtain rods are 1.125 inches long but fit snugly into the plastic holders and prevent the curtain rod from moving when closing or opening the curtains. The brackets that attach to the wall are longer than our previous ones, but that's not a problem. I just drilled another hole and used a 50lb EZ drywall anchor in the areas where there were no studs.
