Review on πŸ“± ZTE VZW-Z839PP Blade Vantage 5 16GB 1.1GHz 2GB Prepaid LTE Verizon Smartphone, Black - Carrier Locked to Verizon Prepaid by Michael Ringgold

Revainrating 3 out of 5

If you have an older Verizon PrePaid Minute plan from 2005, this phone is not compatible.

I have an old plan that still works for me. Verizon has discontinued it for new accounts on smartphones. I pay at least $5 + taxes, I was the "grandfather". I get 10 cents per minute until 10 p.m., and from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. I make unlimited calls all over the world. If I switch to a smartphone, I lose the ability to pay at least $5. I only use my old phone as a backup. I don't want to pay at least $35 for this ZTE smartphone even though I already have two other Verizon accounts (home phone and smartphone). Just thought I could upgrade my old feature phone to a 2020 touchscreen. I even contacted Verizon on their chat, they said I could do it before trying to activate it. However, not at all. When I tried to activate my phone by porting my current phone number, I was told to upgrade to a higher monthly price of $35. I refused and decided to give my granddaughter a ZTE smartphone. I think this ZTE phone is ok and deserves 5 stars. Maybe I gave it 3 stars because I can't use this phone and I have to pay $35 for my back. I don't use the phone much.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Good but not great
