Years ago I got tired of replacing cracked plastic laundry baskets, so I switched to heavy duty milk crate containers. They worked great for storing/transporting linens and we didn't mind if they were kept in a closet. In a new home, there is less storage space, so the baskets remain in the main room, next to the closet door. Milk crates were an eyesore and dangerous for bare feet. We've stubbed our toes and barked our shins countless times! Finally got around to buying a new basket but some of the prices I found were ridiculous. I wasn't planning on spending hundreds of dollars on something that stores dirty clothes. This basket is beautiful, durable and inexpensive. However, it wasn't designed to transport clothes to and from the laundry, so we needed several other products to complete our new laundry system. The pop-ups have handles that make it easy to grab the entire load at once, put it in the wash, and throw it in the washing machine. Second, we bought similar baskets (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0010KZCFC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1) to carry clean clothes back to closets/dressers. We didn't like the idea of using the same bin we keep our dirty laundry in to transport clean laundry. These baskets are shaped to keep folded clothes neatly stacked. They are large enough to hold 1-2 loads of clothes but easily fold for storage. The big advantage of foldable flat baskets/baskets is that the whole system can be quickly packed up and taken on holiday. The biggest benefit of our new system is that we get rid of the hard plastic milk containers we used to use. No more bruised toes and shins!
