Review on Lifegard Aquatics Double Threaded Bulkhead by Kevin Mariappan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The sizes here are for a 1/2 size product

I'm giving it 5 stars for now because I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work for me. Most importantly, here are many of the critical aspects that you may be wondering about. I'm a mechanical engineer and I'm used to a supplier informing me extensively before I buy something, which leads to disappointment in my personal life too often. The product consists of body, sealing washer and nut. Body overall length 1.70", flange diameter 1.80". The flange is 0.21 inch thick. The male thread is 1 1/8-14, which means the widest part is about 1.125 inches, and there are 14 threads per inch, which is an unusual thread. Each end of the body is internally threaded to accept a standard 1/2 male NPT (or "MPT") thread. The internal thread doesn't go through, but that doesn't matter since it's a conical thread and you can only use the first 1/2 inch anyway. The nut has a 1.68 inch diameter flange. Diameter and thickness 0.21 inch. The overall thickness is 0.57 inches. The width across the hex is 1.35 inches. I'm assuming it's 1-5/16"(1.31") nominal. It is planned to use a wrench. The sealing washer has an inside diameter of 1.15 inches and an outside diameter of 1.63 inches. Thickness 0.10 inch. The thickest wall you can realistically fit through is 0.8 inches. The hole you need to drill should be at least 1.15" so a 1 1/8" hole saw will likely be a tight fit and a 1 1/4" hole saw will give you plenty of room. Edit: Almost a year later and no leaks or other issues. A few weeks ago I even adjusted a few of them and resealed them. Great product, couldn't be happier.
