Flexible, low profile ideal for MP3 players

I use this to connect my MP3 player to the 3.5mm jack on my car's center console. The low profile 3.5mm jack was very important to me because I wanted to make the connection as thin as possible to avoid accidental twisting, pinching, or pressure on the plug when moving things in and out of the console. It is quite suitable for this purpose. The connector is thin - about as thin as it gets, so it's basically pressing right against the side of the player and the console wall. The connector itself feels solid and makes a slight click when inserted. The cable is soft and almost as flexible as a braided cable, although it prefers some orientations to others. Sound quality is typical, ie as good as any other cable I've had. the result is a little distracting. So I used a Sharpie Pro - a large chisel point - to make it black. It's a cotton shell so it's pretty viable. I was careful - after the entire cable was covered in paint and dried, I rinsed it in warm water, then dried it and rubbed it with a soft, clean rag about a hundred times until it was almost clean. Once you could tell the original black pieces from the dyed threads, they are just different shades of black, not spots. I imagine using something like RIT black dye would be about as effective if you heat it and let it sit for some time. So I would recommend it. The braided cable looks great and is much easier to work with than rubber equivalents of the same thickness. This makes it easier to use the MP3 player while it is still connected to the network.

Cons
  • Good but not great
