For Chromebook fans, one of the most persistent issues has been the lack of hardware power for users who actually push their computers to the limit - once, when they once If you have a dozen tabs open with half a dozen extensions, many Chromebooks can become noticeably slower. Previously the only option available was the $1,000 Pixel, which is a nice PC but way over budget for this type of device. Almost like a Mac, with 4GB of RAM, a full 14-inch HD display and a quad-core processor. Even the touchpad and keyboard work just as well as the very best Chromebooks currently available (which I would say so far have been made by Dell and Samsung). Performance never falters, it delivers the promised 10-12 hours of battery life in my usage tests, and has quickly become my go-to home and work computer. If you're new to Chromebooks, here's what you can expect from this Acer computer, and the operating system in general: They're truly instant-on computers, very secure, and tightly integrated with Google's suite of apps and tools. work on Chromebooks, and there are new pp-like extensions for pretty much everything else (calculator apps, command line, etc.). For the office, you can give anyone a Chromebook and their surroundings will become available when you log in and disappear when you log out, and the machines can also be controlled remotely if you're a Google Apps customer. For home users, these affordable devices are great for many uses, from casual browsing and dual-screen viewing to watching videos and calling family. They are ideal for elderly parents and relatives who may be spamming their computers with malware as Chromebooks are much harder to crack than Windows 7/8/10 PCs. Extended battery life and automatic integration with cloud services make it easier for students to use cloud services, especially when connecting to a hotspot from your phone. And like many other Chromebooks, this Acer also comes with some free extras like 100GB of drive storage, Google Music, and a dozen Gogo passes on the air (worth over $100). As a 5-year Chromebook veteran, this is the machine I've been waiting for. It takes Chrome OS's basic premise of simplicity and security and combines it with quality hardware at an affordable price. Every aspect of this PC, from the camera and sound quality to the build style, has been carefully considered and represents the best Chromebook to ship to date.
