I didn't know they were battery operated because I can't read. But now I don't care because they turn themselves on and off at the same time every day and I don't have to do anything! How cool is that? cool Contrary to other reviews, I didn't need a screwdriver to open the battery compartment, it just popped open. They're not that difficult to unravel from the box if you just have the patience and figure out how to relax. Buy more now!
