Get another brand.

This is my second Wolverine device. I contacted Wolverine directly about the same issue as others I've had. After a few days of emails they wanted me to send it to them for evaluation. I was totally unproductive with this machine and wasted time going back and communicating and now they want me to spend more so they can "prize" the car and be even more unproductive. Wolverine informed me that buying the "Pro" model doesn't help as they use the same hardware so the Standard and Pro models are of

Don't expect much from a toy

It's really just a toy. Old foil has no chance of being transferred in one go. Joints and worn sprockets hang over the foil again and again. And boy does it take a long time to translate. You also have to babysit the whole process for several hours. The natural skin tones of the original film are rendered as a brilliant golden yellow after transfer. Wolverine Support recommends setting the exposure one level lighter or darker. They also recommend using editing software to adjust the color if…

This saved me thousands of dollars.

There may not be a "Verified Purchase" inscription here, but somewhere here there is an incomplete review. So I repeat. I saved thousands of dollars converting the 8mm film I inherited from my parents. Most of the movie (hours) was blank, fuzzy, or so repetitive that it wasn't worth replaying. If I sent it to the "store" I would have to pay for all that useless film. I made a short preview using the converted Wolverine video and FREE Microsoft Movie Maker for editing. I've included the text for

Be sure to buy this

. This is a very good deal. I had a few issues with it which is reflected in my 3 star rating but none of them were a deal breaker. My old home videos, and I have a lot of them, are taped together. These joints often got caught in the tight S-curve between the film gate and the take-up spool. This means you can't leave the device unattended with long movies, otherwise you'll end up with long passages of one frame. I've found that you can bypass the S-curve and shoot the film smoothly. This…

Beautiful at the best price in scanners

Good product for the price. I have hundreds of old 8mm and Super 8mm films that I haven't had a chance to look at in years. The shipping for the conversion is very expensive. I'm very happy with the results I got from Wolverine MovieMaker. My first session only lasted a day before the lights went out. I contacted the manufacturer about replacing the bulb and they told me it was LED and should last a few years. They replaced my unit and the new one worked well for several days and over 20 film…

This one is worth it to me.

Aside from having to be content with the fact that it can't handle rolls larger than 5 inches, this machine chugged through eight 3-inch and 5-inch films while running sitting in a small area next to me can work on my computer (it takes some getting used to the repeated clicking sound as the film moves from reel to reel). I've used Lexar 32gig 1000 cards (most of which I then transfer to my computer for editing with Windows Movie Maker with good results. You can check the workaround above on…

Works great if you know what you're doing

I took a chance on buying this car after reading some negative reviews and I'm glad I did. As far as I can tell, the negative reviews came from people who either didn't know what they were doing or didn't realize they needed the right computer software to make it work. And no, it doesn't record audio - it's for video only. This machine works exactly as promised. I use a 32GB SD card that just plugs into the machine and connects to my computer after scanning. I use a Mac so I upload videos to…

Easy to use, wish it was like 20 years ago.

I finally took this thing out of the box and was in 10 minutes ready to go. (It probably could have been 6 minutes, but my fat fingers and arthritic hands slow me down a bit). Before buying I watched a lot of videos on the internet on how this thing works. So it was pretty easy to "get down to business". I digitized about 24 3 inch rolls of old 8mm film and they look really fantastic. I'm looking forward to converting all my parents' home videos from the distant past, they must be pleasantly…

Great little machine

So far this machine has worked very well for me. My father-in-law asked me to digitize some of his father's old 8mm film. After realizing how much it would cost to send them to have it done professionally, I decided to try it myself. I started out trying to use his old projector to play a movie by pointing a digital camera at the screen to record. It didn't work that well and I quickly realized it wasn't worth the disappointment. I noticed this product a few months ago, but was put off by the…
